Described as an “artist of refined taste and musicianship” (The Strad Magazine), and a “superior instrumentalist” (Harris Goldsmith, New York Concert Review), Louise Dubin has performed throughout the US and Europe. Recent appearances include cello recitals at Bargemusic, Caramoor, and Piccolo Spoleto; performances with the Artaria String Quartet, the Garth Newel Piano Quartet, Daniel Hope’s sextet at the Savannah Music Festival, trios with Stephanie Chase on the Music of the Spheres Series, and many others. She recently premiered Divertissement, a piece for cello and piano written for her by Roger Stubblefield, at Lincoln Center. She has performed in Zankel Hall, Chicago’s Symphony Hall, and at the Jazz Standard as part of Stefon Harris’s African Tarantella nonet, and at various universities as cellist with the Core Ensemble. Currently the solo cellist of the Broadway Cirque du Soleil show “Paramour,” Ms. Dubin has served as Principal Cellist of the Auckland Philharmonia, guest principal cellist of the Swedish Chamber Orchestra, and Principal Cellist of the Charleston Symphony, where her solo concert with the orchestra was lauded as “virtuosic” (Charleston Post and Courier). Ms. Dubin earned her bachelor’s degree from Columbia University, while studying the cello at Juilliard with Aldo Parisot. In 2011 she earned a doctoral degree from Indiana University, where she where was awarded the Eva Janzer scholarship to study with Janos Starker. Her doctoral research on Auguste Franchomme spawned several projects, including: premiere performances of Franchomme’s works in Paris and throughout the US; lectures at NYU, ASU Tempe, University of Connecticut in Storrs, and other universities; a forthcoming volume of Franchomme’s compositions compiled and introduced by Ms. Dubin (Dover, March 2017); and The Franchomme Project, an album featuring many world premiere recordings of Franchomme’s works, released in September 2015 by Delos/Naxos. The album was immediately chosen by San Francisco’s classical music station, KDFC‐FM, as “CD of the Week,” and Strings Magazine called the album a “rare musical treat” with performances that “unfold with radiant energy.” Ms. Dubin has given masterclasses at Sam Houston State University, Grand Valley State University, University of Connecticut, University of Virginia, and Wichita State. She has taught cello and chamber music at Auckland University, Julliard Pre‐College, Apple Hill Center for Chamber Music, and at Greenwich House School of Music in New York City. www.louise‐dubin.com
